The World Is Loud. Your Soul Isn’t.

We live in a world that never stops talking.

It tells us who to become, what success should look like, how quickly we should achieve it, what we should own, who we should love, and what milestones we should have reached by now. Every day we are surrounded by opinions, expectations, trends, headlines, algorithms, and endless comparisons.

It’s loud.

So loud, in fact, that many of us can no longer hear the quiet voice within us.

The voice that whispers instead of shouts.

The voice that doesn’t seek attention or applause.

The voice that simply knows.

Much of what keeps us busy is performance, sometimes.

We perform success. We perform confidence. We perform certainty. We perform lives that look impressive from the outside while quietly feeling disconnected on the inside.

The world applauds the performance.

There is nothing wrong with building a career, earning money, falling in love, or pursuing success. The question is whether you’re doing it because it aligns with who you are—or because you’ve been handed a script you never chose.

Because our souls long for alignment.

Alignment doesn’t always make sense on paper. It may lead you away from what everyone else expects. It may ask you to leave something comfortable, begin again, write the book no one asked for, start the business before you feel ready, or choose peace over prestige.

From the outside, those decisions can seem irrational.

From the inside, they feel like coming home.

I’ve noticed that whenever I ignore that quiet inner knowing, life becomes heavier, and stagnant.

I begin chasing things that were never really mine, it feels like you just wandering. I become exhausted trying to force doors that don’t want to open. I mistake movement for progress because I’m following expectations instead of conviction.

But when I listen…

Even when the path is uncertain…

Something shifts.

There is a deep sense of peace that doesn’t depend on having all the answers.

It’s the peace of walking in the direction that feels true, even if no one else understands it.

Purpose, I don’t think, is something we manufacture.

It’s something we uncover.

It has been quietly calling us long before the world started telling us who we should be.

The challenge isn’t that purpose is hidden.

The challenge is that the noise is so relentless.

Perhaps the work of becoming isn’t about adding more to ourselves.

Perhaps it’s about removing everything that isn’t us.

The expectations.

The comparisons.

The fear of disappointing people.

The need for approval.

The world says:

Hurry.

Your soul says:

Be still.

The world says:

Prove yourself.

Your soul says:

Know yourself.

The world says:

Become more.

Your soul says:

Remember who you are.

The world isn’t the problem. It’s the performance we believe we have to give in order to belong.

Maybe that’s where fulfilment has always lived.

Not in becoming someone else.

But in finally having the courage to become yourself.

Because the loudest voice in the room isn’t always the wisest.

And, the loudest voices in the world will always tell you who to become.

The quietest voice will simply remind you who you’ve always been.

Sometimes truth arrives as a whisper.

And if we’re willing to become quiet enough to hear it, it can lead us to a life that no amount of applause could ever replace.

What if the person you’re trying to become is actually the person you’ve been forgetting?

“How do I know if I’m living the life that’s truly mine?”

Your answer isn’t “follow your dreams.

“It’s much deeper.

It’s:

Become quiet enough to hear the voice that existed before the world told you who to be.

Some will call it God’s guidance, others intuition, conscience.

Until all that remains is the quiet voice that has been waiting patiently beneath it all.

The Practice of Listening

Maybe this is why solitude feels so uncomfortable.

The moment the noise fades, we are left alone with ourselves. There are no notifications to distract us, no expectations to perform for, no audience to impress. Just silence.

And in that silence, something remarkable happens.

We begin to remember.

We remember what brings us alive. We remember what we’ve been pretending not to know. We remember the dreams we buried beneath responsibility, fear, and the need to fit in. We remember the person God was shaping before the world started shaping us.

Perhaps becoming isn’t another race to run or another version of yourself to create.

Perhaps becoming is simply returning.

Returning to the truth. Returning to your values. Returning to your Creator. Returning to the quiet place where your soul has been waiting for you all along.

The world will still be loud tomorrow.

It will still tell you to hurry, compare, achieve, prove, and perform.

But you don’t have to answer every voice that calls your name.

Some voices are meant to be ignored so that one voice can finally be heard.

So before you ask yourself what you should do next, ask a different question:

What has the quiet voice within me been trying to say all along?

And then… Have the courage to listen
